Marriott opens Glasgow Courtyard SEC hotel
Glasgow has welcomed its second Courtyard by Marriott property, with an opening located next to the city’s OVO Hydro site.
Glasgow Courtyard SEC sits on the banks of the River Clyde and has 216 bedrooms, five event spaces that can accommodate up to 100 delegates and a 24-hour fitness center.
The hotel has a covered walkway leading to the SEC, ideal for guests attending on-site events. It recently hosted guests from over 200 countries for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Summit.
The property has been built using a sustainable and energy-efficient building process, and also has mobile keys and a plastic-free policy in place at the bar – it uses glass and 100% compostable paper cups instead.
Plus, the on-site Hopscotch Restaurant serves Scottish cuisine and seasonal cocktails crafted by mixologist Frazer Graham.
Donovan Sumner, Regional Director of UK Operations for Hotel Co. 51, the operating company of Glasgow Courtyard SEC, said:
“This is our 14th hotel to open in the UK and the first Courtyard Marriott. We are excited to work with the SEC team as events and conferences resume. Thanks to the hotel’s location, we were fully booked for the Climate Change Summit and will continue to make it one of the key hotels in town for travelers and delegates attending events in the region.
