Online reservation not required for Darshan | Kochi News
Thrissur: The steering committee of Guruvayur devaswom on Sunday decided to lift the online registration requirement to enter the temple. The decision was taken at the first meeting of the committee after VK Vijayan took over the chairmanship from Guruvayur devaswom.
Devaswom Administrator KP Vinayan clarified that those wishing to book online to enter the temple can continue to do so. “They will have preference. But none of the worshipers will be denied entry to the temple, just because they didn’t book online. In fact, the Devaswom has been following such a system for the past few days, following the drop in intensity of Covid-19. But the management committee meeting formalized the system,” Vinayan said. Earlier, Vijayan and Chengara Surendran who were appointed new members of the management committee were sworn in.
Afterwards, the members gathered on the stage itself and unanimously elected Vijayan as the new president. Vijayan, who had retired as an associate professor of Sanskrit from Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, was the head of the Pro-CPM All Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association (AKPCTA). Surendran, who is a CPI candidate, was MP for Adoor earlier.
